Congratulations to 2024 Jiu Ding Scholarship recipients !

Montreal, November 1, 2024 – The 12th Jiu Ding Scholarship Awards Gala, presented by Desjardins, was held successfully in Montreal. Under the theme “Love and Hope,” the evening celebrated the awarding of $6,000 CAD scholarships to seven university students of Chinese descent in Quebec, showcasing the potential of the future Sino-Canadian leaders. Over 500 guests were present to applaud the inspiring achievements of these promising young talents.

The evening began with a retrospective video celebrating 13 years of philanthropic commitment from the Jiu Ding Scholarship Foundation. The event was hosted by Muxin Shao and Frank Huang, alongside four talented young MCs: Jovitta Zhou, Lucie Lu, Audrey Turcotte-Miao, and Xander Qiu. The gala also received congratulatory greeting messages, from The Honourable Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Several distinguished guests took the stage, including the Honorable Victor Oh, former Canadian Senator; Ms. Wang Hong, Acting Consul General of China in Montreal; Mr. Monsef Derraji, Member of Parliament for Nelligan; Ms. Doreen Assaad, Mayor of Brossard; Mr. Karl Blackburn, President and CEO of the Conseil du patronat du Québec; Ms. Caroline Blouin, Senior Business Development Director at Desjardins Entreprises Rive-Sud; and Mr. Danfen Huang, President of the Jiu Ding Scholarship Foundation.

The seven recipients were carefully selected by the independent committee, coming from various Quebec universities and studying in a wide range of majors.

2024 Jiu Ding Scholarship Recipients

  1. Han Qi Natally Xie (McGill University, Finance): A persevering dreamer who brightens the future with optimism and resilience. In recognition of her exceptional commitment, she also received a certificate from the National Assembly of Quebec, presented by Mr. Monsef Derraji.
  2. Jessica Keer Li (McGill University, Law): A rising star, both in law and on the ice.
  3. Victor Chen (McGill University, Bioinformatics): An explorer in technological and biomedical sciences.
  4. Amélie Tao (Sherbrooke University, Medicine): A future doctor passionate about kindness and humanism.
  5. Shayla He (University of Montreal, Physiotherapy): A pioneer in women’s sports, brilliant on the soccer field and in her studies.
  6. Ethan Wu (McGill University, Investment Management): A young talent in finance and entrepreneurship.7. Cathy Hu (McGill University, Law): A future Sino-Canadian politician dedicated to public affairs.
